Life Planning

In 2017, the Diocese of Richmond hosted a three-part series intended for anyone who would like to learn more about a number of issues that may come as one nears the end of life and considers long-term care. Some of the topics that were addressed include:

  • caring for an aging parent or spouse
  • considering assisted living, hospice, or in-home care
  • planning for a Catholic funeral or work with funeral homes and cemeteries
  • Advance Medical Directives and health care proxies
  • the moral teaching of the Church surrounding the end-of-life
  • ordinary versus extraordinary means of care
  • estate planning

These seminars are a collaborative effort between the Diocese of Richmond’s Center for Marriage, Family, and Life, Office of Worship, Catholic Community Foundation, Catholic Cemeteries, Bon Secours, Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, and the Residential Adult Care Centers.
