Life Planning Seminar Series

On December 28, 2016, on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, Bishop DiLorenzo reaffirmed his commitment to a renewed emphasis on Respect Life ministries. As a part of that renewal the Diocese of Richmond is hosting a three-part series intended for anyone who would like to learn more about a number of issues that may come as one nears the end of life and considers long-term care. Some of the topics that will be addressed include:

  • caring for an aging parent or spouse
  • considering assisted living, hospice, or in-home care
  • planning for a Catholic funeral or work with funeral homes and cemeteries
  • Advance Medical Directives and health care proxies
  • the moral teaching of the Church surrounding the end-of-life
  • ordinary versus extraordinary means of care
  • estate planning

These seminars are a collaborative effort between the Diocese of Richmond’s Center for Marriage, Family, and Life, Office of Worship, Catholic Community Foundation, Catholic Cemeteries, Bon Secours, Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, and the Residential Adult Care Centers.

There is no cost to attend and lunch is included with your free registration. Each session will be offered live at the Diocese of Richmond Pastoral Center and broadcast in real time to both the Western and Eastern Vicariates. The Western Vicariate remote session will be hosted at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Roanoke. The Eastern Vicariate remote session will be hosted by Saint Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Additionally, all sessions will be recorded so that those who are unable to attend can view the content and representatives from each organization related to the topic at hand will be available during the day and at the end of the seminar for people to ask questions and get more information about the services that are available to them.
